The OUSD Open Enrollment Process allows families to apply for admission to any Oakland public school for the next school year. This process is particularly important for 5th graders who will transition to middle school next year, and for 8th graders who will transition to high school. The annual OUSD Open Enrollment period is when families are invited to submit enrollment applications for the schools of their choice. The Open Enrollment period for the 2017-18 school year is from Dec. 5, 2016, to Jan. 20, 2017. All enrollment applications must be submitted by Jan. 20, 2017.
Enrollment Options Fairs
We are encouraging all of our 8th grade families to attend one of three OUSD High School Enrollment Options Fairs coming up in November, December and January. All Oakland public schools will be represented at these events, which offer famlies an opportunity to learn about each school, speak with teachers, staff and parents, and get support with the enrollment process. The High School Options Fair dates are:
- Tuesday, Nov. 29, 5-8 p.m. at Roosevelt Middle School (1926 E. 19th St.)
- Thursday, Dec. 8, 5-8 p.m. at Westlake Middle School (2629 Harrison St.)
- Monday, Jan. 9, 5-8 p.m. at Elmhurst Community Prep (1800 98th Ave.)
High School Field Trip for Claremont 8th Graders
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, our 8th grade students will take field tirp to visit various Oakland high schools they might choose to attend. If you have an 8th grade student at Claremont, please sign and return the permission slip for this field trip as soon as possible. Also we are in need of parent volunteers to help chaperone the field trip. If you can help, please contact Ms. Ola, Ms. Groves or any member of the 8th grade team.
