The home page has great middle school links. The catalog has all our books and is a user friendly site.
The Goals of the Claremont Middle School Library
•provide access to information and information technologies.
•increase student information literacy on the web and in print.
•inspire reluctant and non-readers to read for information and enjoyment.
•increase reading comprehension by offering material middle school students are interested in reading
•create an atmosphere in our library that is conducive to studying, researching, learning and reading for both school work and personal enjoyment
Schedule of Hours
The library is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:45am-3:30pm. We have a flexible schedule in which teachers sign up their classes to come in for stories, book talks, check out and research. Mrs. Debbie Hughes is in the library Monday and Tuesday. Mrs. Jenny Ettinger is in the library Thursday and Friday.
You Can Help the Library
The library needs money for books, more updated computers and furniture. If you would like to help email claremontms@mac.com or visit the PTA page and learn how you can donate to the PTA and indicate that the donation is for the library. To donate money directly to the Library click on the “Donate Now” button above. On the donation page select “Library” in the “Designations” pop-up. Your donation will be applied directly to support the Library.
Biographies of the Librarians
Jenny Ettinger: Masters in Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Have taught Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, 4th Grade and 5th Grade Language Arts. Currently am the librarian two days a week for the upper grades (3rd-5th) at Chabot Elementary School.
Debbie Hughes: B.A. Education from National College of Education, Evanston, Illinois. Will complete Masters in Library Information Sciences in June of 2009. Taught 3rd through 5th grade Computer Technology at Chabot Elementary and 6, 7 and 8th grades Math and Computer Science in Illinois. Currently teach Technology Skills to 3rd through 5th grades at Chabot Elementary.
